Your data & privacy

Understand what stays on your frame and how to remove or revoke access.

What stays local

Skylit has no maintained hosted backend or Skylit account. Settings, private calendar feeds, last-good events and cached photos stay on the frame. Gmail app passwords are encrypted with Android Keystore. Android backup is disabled.

Weather requests go to Open-Meteo for your chosen city. Google websites use their own sessions in the frame’s WebView. Skylit does not copy browser cookies from your computer.

Public screenshots and support

Use the website’s labelled sample screenshots when sharing Skylit. Do not publish your own photos, event details, addresses, account identities, calendar links or QR pairing invitations.

Display-preference transfer intentionally excludes accounts, city, calendar and album links, photos, household content, inviter identities and custom dashboard arrangements.

Remove access

  1. For email, disconnect and erase on the frame, then revoke the app password in your Google Account.
  2. For calendars, remove the source on the frame. Reset an exposed secret iCal address in Google Calendar.
  3. Stop phone sharing when finished. Sign out of Google’s websites on the frame when retiring the device.
  4. Uninstalling removes Skylit’s private app data. Keep any pictures you need elsewhere before deleting the local cache.
